Love Windermere Invites Quotations for Independent Data Assurance Role
The Love Windermere Partnership is inviting quotations for an important new role, Independent Data Assurer, to support the governance of United Utilities Water’s Wonderful Windermere bespoke performance commitment.
What is Wonderful Windermere and Why This Role Matters
Windermere, the largest lake in England and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, faces challenges from nutrient enrichment caused by sewage and land management practices. To address this, United Utilities Water has committed to significant improvements under its AMP8 programme, including phosphorus reduction measures and a pioneering initiative called Wonderful Windermere.
This scheme is the first of its kind in the water sector and aims to reduce phosphorus from private sewage treatment works and land. Given its importance and public interest, the Performance Commitment requires robust governance and assurance. That’s where the Independent Data Assurer comes in – providing external scrutiny of data, methodologies, and reported outcomes to ensure transparency and evidence-based decision-making.
Role Overview
The Independent Data Assurer will:
- Review and scrutinise data collected by United Utilities Water for annual reports.
- Examine assumptions, sample analysis, and phosphorus reduction calculations.
- Provide written reports and attend meetings with the Love Windermere Partnership Board.
- Operate independently from United Utilities Water while working within a regulated framework.
This role is critical to maintaining trust and integrity in the Wonderful Windermere initiative.
How to Apply
Quotations with an accompanying CV should be submitted by midnight on Sunday, 25 January 2026. Full details of the role, requirements, and evaluation process can be found on our Invitation to Quote page.
