Report environmental problems anytime, anywhere!

The Environment Agency are making it faster and easier for you to protect the environment with a new reporting service available at the touch of a button.

30 June 2025

You can now flag environmental issues directly online through the Environment Agency’s digital service: ‘Report an environmental problem’ – available 24/7 on Report an environmental problem – GOV.UK

This online reporting tool gives you a convenient, secure, and accessible way to highlight environmental concerns, whether you’re at home or out and about. Whether it’s pollution in a river or lake or details of flooding, your report can now be submitted in moments from your phone, tablet, or computer.

How to report a problem:

What can you report online?

You can currently report:

  • Water pollution in rivers, lakes, seas, and reservoirs – including sewage, agricultural runoff, industrial discharges, or leaks from objects in the water.
  • A flood or possible causes of flooding

More types of environmental incidents will be added to the online service in future updates but in the meantime, you can still report issues, such as blue-green algae to the EA’s free 24-hour incident hotline 0800 80 70 60 or by using the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology ‘Bloomin Algae App’.

Why your report matters

Every report helps the Environment Agency respond faster and more effectively to environmental incidents. Your input provides crucial real-time intelligence that helps protect England’s air, land, and water – especially as climate change brings new and growing environmental challenges.

Together, let’s take action to protect our environment.
