RoWindermere 2025

Love Windermere celebrates a weekend of rowing, sustainability, and shared purpose

8 September 2025

Over the first weekend in September, the shores of Windermere came alive with energy and camaraderie as rowing clubs from across the country including Northwich RC, Trentham BC, Monmouth RC, Marlow RC, and Windermere RC arrived for RoWindermere 2025 — a 35km rowing tour from Fell Foot to Waterhead and back.

As proud sponsors, the Love Windermere Partnership was delighted to support this inspiring event that brought together sport, sustainability, and community spirit.

From the practice session and social evening on Saturday to the official launch on Sunday morning, the event showcased Windermere not just as a place of natural beauty, but as a living, shared space that connects people through recreation, stewardship, and care.

Love Windermere team members joined the evening gathering to meet participants, share our aims, and discuss the importance of protecting the lake’s water quality.

A Shared Commitment to the Lake

RoWindermere’s commitment to sustainability was clear throughout the weekend. Thanks to support from South Cumbria Rivers Trust, all crews followed the Clean–Check–Dry protocol to prevent the spread of invasive species, using a portable cleaning station before and after the tour. Even the participation medals were made of wood — a small but powerful symbol of environmental care.

Ruth Forrester, Partnership Manager of Love Windermere, said:

“Events like RoWindermere motivate us to continue our efforts to enhance water quality in the lake. Windermere is such a cherished place for everyone who interacts with it, and by working together, we can ensure it remains protected for future generations.”
